The Crushed Monocle Podcast is a show where Jon and Coop talk about stuff. ALL the stuff! Music, movies, shows, life, or whatever. Naturally, they will mispronounce names, poke fun at themselves, and never fail to profess their love for Showgirls’ 1995 masterpiece. Doesn’t that excite you? Sure it does! This is why it’s essential that you subscribe to this podcast on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you consume fine podcasts. This is the Crushed Monocle Podcast: Episode 15 – The Pre-Riot Fest Hype Show!

As festival season is in full swing here in the US, there’s one festival Coop is extremely fond of, Riot Fest! Not only is it in his hometown of Chicago but it features various artists from his favorite genres. Not only is Riot Fest a wicked cool festival but it’s also important to the music scene because it’s one of the last fully independent festivals in America. Despite its top-tier headliners (Misfits, My Chemical Romance, and Nine Inch Nails) and growing closer to the size of Lollapalooza, Riot surprisingly maintains its intimate, local vibes. Of course, Coop is going to attend so join us for some sweet Pre-Riot Fest hype!

In this episode, Jon and Coop discuss their thoughts on the Riot Fest lineup as well as various topics such as:

  • The Danish noise-rock band Tvivler.
  • A new song from The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
  • Imaad Wasif being the gothic George Harrison.
  • The Black Angels need to record better drums.
  • Andrew WK and Kat Dennings are sort of a brother/sister couple.
  • Being super tired while attending 3-day festivals.

In addition to these topics, Coop and Jon also discuss the recent controversy of a TikTok Stranger Things fan trying to cancel Metallica due to questionable behavior over 20 years ago. Can a band of that stature even be canceled? Moreover, if a person can’t be forgiven for behavior 2 decades ago, why should they apologize or bother changing? What would Eddie Munson do?

Do these topics interest you? Well, you’ve stuck it out with us for this far, so we gotta be doing something right! Most importantly, don’t forget to subscribe, like, and share The Crushed Monocle Podcast in your favorite format. So, kick back and enjoy Jon, and Coop, as they talk about stuff. ALL the stuff!
