Just like every other movie, game, or book in the last ten years, the Bearded Gentlemen First of The Month Podcast has been rebooted. And just like all those reboots you didn’t ask for, we’re turning it into something barely recognizable! The role of host Mike Scherf will now be played by me, Coop! The co-host will still be played none other than site owner, Jon Robertson. Oh and we’re also changing the name of it to The Crushed Monocle Podcast too. So maybe it isn’t a traditional reboot, but more of an unearned sequel.
Seeing as Jon and I are two 30-something white dudes with beards, it’s sort of a requirement to have a podcast, right?
On the very first episode of the Crushed Monocle Podcast, Jon and I talk about a wide variety of topics you may or may not be interested in:
- Chicago based, noise rock band FACS
- Wolfgang Van Halen‘s debut album Mamoth WVH
- Serbian alt-rockers, Repetitor
- Why I’m NOT reviewing the latest Twenty One Pilots record
- Horror remakes of the 2000s
- Terrible distortion pedals probably used on a classic Slint album
But most importantly, the new God-awfully boring, caucasian garbage single from Lorde, Solar Power.
Now before you get your panties in a bunch, we’re well aware Lorde isn’t out there making music for dudes like Jon and me but pop music should at least be interesting enough to get stuck in your head. “Solar Power” lacks is none of that. Not even the butt cheeks on the cover art make it interesting. Now THAT’s some serious boredom.
