Introducing Kid Bloom || Interview

Lennon Kloser, known under the name Kid Bloom, is a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter. This past summer Kid Bloom released his EP Blood Sugar and a follow-up single “Hold In, Hold On.” We were given the chance to interview Kid Bloom to talk a little bit about both Blood Sugar, “Hold In, Hold On,” and more!

Sydney: What was the inspiration when writing “Hold In, Hold On”?

Kid Bloom: I was playing on an acoustic and tapping my foot on the ground when the first melody came to mind. It has a 70’s vibe to it and I’ve always been inspired by the music of the ’70s.

Sydney: Will “Hold In, Hold On” be a part of the planned debut album, or will it be a stand-alone single?

Kid Bloom: Stand-alone single.

Sydney: How has the reception for your most recent EP, Blood Sugar, been from fans so far?

Kid Bloom: Fantastic and a blessing as always!

Sydney: Your EP, Blood Sugar, showed a range of musical styles ranging from R&B to 1970s style synths. Will your upcoming debut album follow a similar range of styles?

Kid Bloom: I would hope so. I’m also diving in a little deeper with the different styles.

Sydney: What is your favorite song off of Blood Sugar and why?

Kid Bloom: “Fake a Smile” is my favorite. I put that on as kind of a filler but it ended up being one of my favorites. I had to focus on my vocal performance so it helped me be more aware of how I sing.

Sydney: How has your process of writing music changed over the course of quarantine?

Kid Bloom: I think it’s ever-changing. In quarantine, I’ve had a lot of time to myself and more time to experiment.

Sydney: When it is safe to tour again, where is the first place you’d like to hold a show?

Kid Bloom: Los Angeles, somewhere like the Troubadour.

Sydney: What has been some of the music you have been listening to during quarantine?

Kid Bloom: I’ve been listening to some jazz and a lot of old stuff from the ’40s and ’50s.

Sydney: While touring in person is currently not allowed; are there any plans to hold any virtual shows in the near future?

Kid Bloom: Yes! Stay tuned.
