Favorite Overrated Underrated With Oh The Humanity!

Since 2012, the Massachusetts punk band Oh The Humanity has been putting out amazing melodic hardcore punk. This week, they release their Hellminded Records debut. Musically, they walk a delicate line between punk, metal, and melodic hardcore. As a result, their new album is one that definitely commands attention. For instance, if you’re a fan of bands like Propagandhi, A Wilhelm Scream, and Strung Out, then look no further. Clearly, you owe it to yourself to track it down.

“Everyone in Gainesville (Looks Like Someone I Know)”

With their latest single, it’s catchy lyrics and riffs for days! At its core, it’s an homage to Fest. For the uninitiated, Fest is Gainesville’s premiere independent music festival. After listening to the track, you’ll miss live music all over again.

Hopefully, COVID-19 will be over by October so Fest can happen again. It’s been too long since we’ve been able to get sweaty in a room with our closest friends. Fingers crossed!

Chris Santoro (Oh The Humanity! Drummer)

Favorite Album

“Gates, Bloom and Breathe is probably my current favorite album. It’s just a beautiful record from start to finish. But I also have to give honorable mentions to Ben Folds Five, Whatever and Ever Amen and Small Brown Bike, Dead Reckoning. They’ve definitely influenced me the most musically.”

Overrated Album

“Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Or any of their other albums. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are just terrible. And annoying. And all of their songs are about California.”

Underrated Album

“Sum 41, Chuck. This album absolutely rips. It’s got riffs for days. Sum 41 shred way harder than they get credit for. Plus, it’s named after a UN peacekeeper who saved their lives. It’s a wild story, look it up. Great album, listen to it!”

Favorite Album

Master of Puppets? Pinkerton? Something to Write Home About? I don’t know. It’s too tough to narrow it down. I’ll go with On Letting Go by Circa Survive, and I’ll give the 2002 With Honor EP an honorable mention.”

“Nirvana’s Nevermind. Great album. Its just not their best. They have more interesting recordings in their discography. In Utero is my jam.

Underrated Album

“Novella of Uriel by Blood Has Been Shed. Easily one of the heaviest and most creative bands from the late ’90s, early 2000’s metal scene. The first track might be my favorite album opener of all time.”
