Mini Mansion and James Supercave New York Show

James Supercave and Mini Mansions Capture Hearts In Williamsburg

All great adventures begin with a crazy night, a drink, and amazing music.

This past week I was fortunate enough to see James Supercave and Mini Mansions on a very rainy Thursday night. The beauty of Music Hall of Williamsburg is that everyone welcomes you with a smile as I greet them back with a smile and squeeze the rain from my hair. Having a history with a music venue is like going back home and remembering all of the best and crazy times you’ve had.

As we drank our cold beer in the basement, I couldn’t help but smile at how many bands I’ve seen here and each time has gotten better. The first band began and caught our attention, you could hear the bass reverberate through the walls – I knew that this was a band I couldn’t miss out on and thankfully I was right.

James Supercave is definitely a band you can’t miss out on.

With their charming on stage presence, amazing energy, and alluring songs. Starting their set with “Better Strange” and capturing the audience with weird, awesome dance moves and seeing the lead singer, Joaquin Pastor, sing with his military jacket on his head. As Joaquin introduced the members of the band he introduced Jamie, their drummer who flew in France and someone in the audience adorably welcomed him with “Merci, Jamie!” which made Joaquin smile.

They beautifully ended their set with a cover of Gorillaz “Rhinestone Eyes” which at some point I definitely fangirled and sang along to my heart’s content as I adore Gorillaz but James Supercave also took me back to my adolescence, which is bittersweet and endearing at the same time.

Brightly lit across the stage was a Mini Mansions sign in a sultry, delicious red that captured their essence perfectly.

As soon as Mini Mansions took the stage the entire crowd went wild and they began their set with classics such as “This Bullet” and “Death Is A Girl“. There’s something about Tyler Parkford’s refined, sleek vocals and Michael Shuman’s smooth, baritone voice that go strikingly well with each other. As they began to play “Creeps“, I couldn’t help but smile as it’s a pleasantly melancholic song it is also a goosebump-inducing song live. Mini Mansions has wonderful chemistry as a band, they joke with each other onstage and smile at each other confirming that they’re all having fun which I think is super important for a band.

Once the crowd saw the band letting loose and having fun, the crowd got super into it and started dancing along like. The song that really won my heart over was, “Hey Lover” which has to be one of the sexiest songs ever written. Mini Mansions is with a doubt a band you’ve got to see live, you’ll appreciate the rawness of their songs and their no holds bar energy that will make you fall in love with their music even more.
