I’ve officially signed up for the Jack White Vault Package #14. Sounds serious doesn’t it? Like some top secret mission. What it is exactly is a compilation of a 2 disc recording from White’s Third Man Records show in Nashville, Blunderbuss Demos featuring “Freedom at 21,” “Love Interruption,” & “Hypocritical Kiss,” and the The Dead Weather photo book.
My feelings on Jack White are this: I pretty much feel that he is a musical genius. I try not to throw that word around lightly. I always looked at White as this mad scientist formulating a master potion. I remember anticipating Blunderbuss, Whites debut solo Album that came out in April 2012. I wanted so bad for Blunderbuss to be a masterpiece and it was. It was like the White Stripes, Raconteurs & The Dead Weather all wrapped up into one. Tracks surrounded by serious piano driven melodies along with White’s familiar angst lyrics. Of course we all know White to be a bit odd. His mysterious relationship with former wife or sister as they would often allude to, Meg White. The vagueness that embodied them transcended their music, like a deep emptiness. And so White’s strange fascinating persona continues, in his music and in life it seems.
In Sept 2012 White abruptly ended his Radio City Music Hall Show after playing for only 55 minutes. I have to say I was very disappointed to hear this. I can take tantrum’s from Billie Joe Armstrong, heck even Billy Joel, but Jack White? Another pisser is his refusal to play any Philadelphia shows, saying fans aren’t ‘into it’ enough. What the what? Hi, I’m Sabrina and I’m from Philadelphia and I can assure you Mr. White that I am into it. I very recently almost got my chance to see Jack White when I was in Austin. But unfortunately the day I was to attend the Austin City Limits Festival it down poured and our plans were derailed. Even with all his side drama I can’t deny the power house that spews from his mouth. White is deep, strange & captivating. His style is unique and borderlines on sincere & eccentric but most of all he rocks.
