In the 38th episode of Crushed Monocle Podcast, Jon and Coop are joined by Chris Spencer and Jim Coleman of Human Impact!
Something of a supergroup, Human Impact is made up of members of Unsane, Cop Shoot Cop, Daughters, and Made Out Of Babies. Their music is dark, aggressive, and perhaps even a little post-apocalyptic. Blending elements of noise, ambient, and industrial while maintaining the DIY of the New York hardcore scene. For their sophomore album Gone Dark (on Ipecac Recordings), Chris Spencer and Jim Coleman take an organic approach to match the sound of their explosive live show.
In addition to Human Impact, Jon, Coop, Jim, and Chris also talk about:
- Not getting your jaw ripped off at a show.
- How Jim and Chris met decades ago but not getting to collab until recently
- The joys of synth crack.
- Salt Lake City getting ignored on tour.
Unfortunately, there were a few technical hiccups that caused Jim to drop in and out in the later part of this episode. That’s just an endearing reminder that Crushed Monocle Podcast is not a big-budget production but a place where the guests and hosts are just hanging out.
