Alternative R&B artist Talii has been releasing music for the last four years. Not one to get pigeon-holed, her music showcases her immense talent and diverse skills. Whether pop, soul, or R&B, Talii weaves them together to make her own sound.
Just this month, Talii released her latest single, “Scars in the Dark.” It’s the culmination of where’s she been and what’s she’s been up to since 2018. The song takes all the best elements from her previous releases, puts them together, and improves upon them. What results is an infectiously melodic R&B track with elements of soul, trap, and electro pop. It has an almost hypnotic feel to it, sucking you in and compelling you to listen to it over and over again.
Now that Talii’s latest single is out, she stopped by to give us a glimpse into her personal musical preferences.
Favorite Album
“Alina Baraz and Galimatias, Urban Flora. I would say one of my favorite albums is Urban Flora by Alina Baraz and Galimatias. It’s one of the few albums I’ve listened to countless times all the way through. For me, that’s the mark of a great album.”
Overrated Album
“Olivia Rodrigo, SOUR. I don’t even like to say an album is overrated since music taste is a such a individual thing. [laughs] But, if I had to choose one, in my personal opinion, I would say Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR album only because it’s a pop album geared more for teens, but I think she has a dope voice and definitely respect her as an artist.”
Underrated Album
“Snoh Aalegra, -Ugh, those feels again. A super underrated album in my opinion is -Ugh, those feels again by Snoh Aalegra. That album still lives rent free in my head, and I don’t feel like enough people know about her and her music.”
