Hello! This is not Mike this month. This is Jon again.
So in case you don’t know how our recording schedule works we try and record the podcast during the last weekend of the previous month and we try and release it on the first of the month. Hence the title.
Here’s the problem, we recorded super early this month and we missed a ton of stuff that we would have probably spent the whole podcast talking about. Here’s a list of shit that we missed and it all has to do with Kanye again.
- Pusha T’s new album, Daytona is an absolute banger of an EP / album. It fucking rules! – sampled in the pod
- The whole Drake, Pusha T beef.
- Push’s savage response back to Drake that basically burned his entire world down.
- The whole J Prince telling Kanye to shut the Drake / Push beef down (very shady stuff).
- Kanye’s new album, Ye which is okay.
- Kids See Ghosts, which is dope and I’m sure we will hit on that in this upcoming podcast for next month. – sampled in the pod
Also, we had another guest this month. We were joined by the wonderful, Haley Lewis who writes for the site.
She has written a ton of really great stuff for us like a Riot Grrrls piece, interviewed Martin Bisi (we talk about that encounter in the pod), her love for Jimmy Buffett, and she is reviving the beer and album pairing column as well. However, she is off the grid so good luck telling her how great she did on the pod because you won’t be able to find her. How we were able to connect with her for this pod was honestly a small miracle.
We also talk Courtney Barnett, Leon Bridges, SiR (but that album came out in January, but that is the album of the year), Parquet Courts, Beach Slang, and Beach House.
Also, please subscribe to our podcast and rate it appropriately on iTunes / Google Play / Stitcher and where ever else podcasts are found. What’s “appropriately”? Five stars / two thumbs up / 10 out of 10, obviously. Because if you don’t help us, we can’t help you with these hot takes we’re dropping.
Help us help you by encouraging us to make the best podcast possible, because we’re insecure like that.
A writerly writer guy who writes about music, basketball and writing. He now writes here, but has written other places too. He also writes for a big fancy company as his 9-5. Writing, writing, writing. If you want to read his basketball writing (or listen to his podcasting, which isn’t writing but you know).
